Lash Extensions

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are semi permanent false lashes applied to each of your own individual lashes using non-irritating glue. They are used to create a longer and thicker lash look and enhance your natural eye shape. Unlike traditional strip lashes which are removed after each use, extensions are not applied to any skin and the lengths and shape is bespoke to you to get the best looking lashes for each individual client. Extensions when looked after correctly cause no damage at all to your natural lashes, so no need to worry about keeping your own healthy lashes!

Naturally as your own lashes grow, the extensions grow out too. This means that infills are required every 2-3 weeks if you would like to keep your lashes looking perfect.

What is the process of lash extensions?

Just like any other form of semi permanent make up, you'll need to start off the process of lash extensions with a patch test. This patch test must be completed at least 24 hours in advance of your pre-booked appointment. As long as no allergic reactions occur during these 24 hours, you can go ahead with your treatment.

After discussing what your lash goals are and planning your desired thickness and length, the first step of the treatment is to cleanse your lashes to ensure that no dirt or leftover make up remains on them. We'll then use pads to hold down your bottom lashes and you'll be asked to close your eyes. It's important that your eyes are shut throughout the whole treatment as this helps to keep your lashes as still as possible, preventing any sticking together and keeping the direction as perfect as possible! A full set of lashes usually takes around 2 hours.

When coming in for an infill, any lashes that have grown out significantly will be removed and new ones will be added to keep them looking fresh. This can take between 1-1.5 hours depending on the time you leave inbetween appointments.

What is the necessary aftercare?

After having your treatment, make sure you're cleaning your lashes every 3 days. You can purchase lash shampoo online, or alternatively you can buy some at your appointment. This is essential to stop any build up of makeup, natural oils or dust which can cause infection or premature lash shedding. It is also recommended to brush through your lashes twice a day using a brush that will be given to you after your treatment.

Stay on top of your infills! These can be done every 2-3 weeks and keep your lashes looking full all the time.

Things not to do:

  • Do not get your lashes wet for 48 hours after application.

  • Do not use oil based products around or on your eyes.

  • Try not to sleep on your face.

  • Do not use any mascara.

  • Do not rub your eyes.

  • Do not pick your lashes or attempt to remove them yourself.
